Sat Dec 13 02:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Rowan Atkinson Disses Mr. Bean: “A Selfish, Self-Serving, Anarchic Child”

London, UK – In a surprising revelation, British comedy icon Rowan Atkinson has confessed his dislike for one of his most beloved characters, Mr. Bean. Speaking at a London screening of his new Netflix show, Man Vs Baby, Atkinson described the globally recognized character as a “selfish, self-serving, anarchic child” that he would never want to have dinner with.

Despite Mr. Bean’s widespread appeal, with the character’s brand sold to over 190 countries and its YouTube channel boasting 35 million subscribers, Atkinson made it clear he finds the character personally unappealing. “I dislike Mr. Bean as a person,” he stated. “But at the same time, I like him as a character, because he is possibly a bit like I was at age 10.”

Atkinson went on to compare Mr. Bean to other characters he’s played, finding them all largely “unpleasant.” He contrasted Mr. Bean with his Man Vs Bee character, Trevor Bingley, whom he described as “one of the nicest people I’ve ever played.”

Looking to the future, Atkinson said that the decision to make a third series of the Man Vs… series would be made on viewing figures rather than critical reception, adding: “I haven’t read a review or critique of anything I’ve done since the 20th century.”

While Atkinson may not have a fondness for Mr. Bean, the character’s enduring popularity suggests that audiences worldwide feel differently.
