Lincoln, NE – The undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team (32-0) is set to battle the Kansas Jayhawks (24-10) in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament tonight at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. Following their dominant sweep of Kansas State last Saturday, the top-ranked Huskers aim to continue their quest for a national championship.
The Jayhawks advanced to the Sweet 16 after defeating Miami in four sets. This is Kansas’s fourth Sweet 16 appearance in program history and their first since 2021. Matt Ulmer is in his first year as the head coach for the Jayhawks.
Nebraska boasts a historically dominant record against Kansas, standing at 88-0-1 all-time. The last meeting between the two teams occurred in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, where the Huskers prevailed 3-1.
Nebraska’s offensive prowess is unmatched, leading the nation with a .353 hitting percentage. Their defense is equally formidable, holding opponents to a nation-leading .124 hitting percentage.
The winner of the Nebraska-Kansas matchup will advance to the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday to face Texas A&M. The Aggies secured their spot after a stunning reverse sweep victory over Louisville, marking their first Elite Eight appearance since 2001.
