Thunder Roll Over Jazz in Decisive Victory, Extend Winning Streak to 15

SALT LAKE CITY – The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their dominant run Sunday night, crushing the Utah Jazz 131-101 and extending their winning streak to an impressive 15 games. Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams led the charge, each racking up 25 points in the absence of star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who sat out with left elbow bursitis.

Holmgren also contributed nine rebounds, while Williams dished out eight assists. Aaron Wiggins added 19 points, and Branden Carlson chipped in with a season-high 13 points. The Thunder’s offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting an impressive 58% from the field and sinking 21 three-pointers. They capitalized on Utah’s turnovers, converting 17 miscues into 27 points.

The Jazz, playing without their leading scorer Lauri Markkanen (undisclosed illness), were led by Kyle Filipkowski’s 21 points and 10 rebounds. Walter Clayton Jr. and Taylor Hendricks added 20 points apiece.

Oklahoma City set the tone early, racing to a 13-1 lead. A strong performance from Carlson fueled a 25-7 run in the first quarter, pushing the score to 43-16 and leading to the Thunder dropping 45 points on the Jazz in the first quarter.

The Thunder never looked back, maintaining a double-digit lead throughout the final three quarters and pushing their advantage to as high as 42 points in the second half. The Jazz defense struggled, having allowed 86 points in the first quarters alone over their last two games.

Looking Ahead:

The Thunder (23-1) will host the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. The Jazz will head to Memphis to face the Grizzlies on Friday night.
