SEOUL – December 9, 2025 – South Korea’s military scrambled fighter jets on Tuesday after multiple Chinese and Russian military aircraft entered and exited the Korea Air Defence Identification Zone (KADIZ). According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), seven Russian and two Chinese planes entered the KADIZ at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).
While the aircraft were identified and monitored, no breach of South Korea’s territorial airspace occurred. South Korean fighter jets were deployed as a precautionary measure. The aircraft remained within the KADIZ for approximately one hour, primarily off the east and south coasts of South Korea, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency.
