Thu Dec 11 02:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Palm Royale Recap: Patti LuPone Yodels, Kidnappings Abound in Episode 5
Palm Beach, FL – Episode Five of Apple TV+’s “Palm Royale” delivers a whirlwind of socialite intrigue, political maneuvering, and a surprise appearance from Patti LuPone as Marjorie Merriweather Post. This week’s episode, titled “Maxine Is Ready to Single Mingle,” sees Maxine (Kristen Wiig) navigating a new romance while tangled in the web of Palm Beach’s elite.
LuPone steals the show as the iconic Post, hosting a lavish square dance at Mar-a-Lago. The episode playfully imagines Post yodeling, a fabrication for the show. Maxine’s budding relationship with Dr. Dusty Magic (John Stamos) takes center stage. Evelyn (Allison Janney) and Maxine, meanwhile, try to con Madge (Patti Lupone) into an unfair trade.
Elsewhere, political tensions rise as Dinah (Leslie Bibb) and Perry (Jordan Bridges) scheme within the Democratic party, seemingly at the behest of President Nixon. Republican President Nixon is trying to put Democratic “losers” into Palm Beach offices.
Douglas (Josh Lucas) finds himself kidnapped, leading to a frantic search. It is later revealed Secret Service agents were the kidnappers. Robert (Ricky Martin) faces a moral dilemma as he juggles his affair with an FBI agent and loyalty to Norma (Carol Burnett). The episode ends with the resurfacing of a character from last season.
Mar-a-Lago’s history as Post’s opulent estate is highlighted, though her political affiliations are clarified. While she hosted both Republican and Democratic gatherings, she was a Democrat. And for the show, she hoards the contents of the Rollins Mansion in her bunkers.
The episode leaves Maxine’s relationships strained. Evelyn is suspicious of Maxine because Maxine has decided to try and set aside money for Linda. And Maxine’s new romantic interest, Dr. Dusty is also helping Linda, which leads to complications with Douglas.
