Mon Dec 08 02:13:24 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Road to be Named After Donald Trump in Bid for Global Recognition
Hyderabad, India – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed naming a prominent road in Hyderabad after former US President Donald Trump, aiming to generate international attention ahead of the upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit. The road, which runs adjacent to the US Consulate General, is slated to be christened “Donald Trump Avenue,” potentially marking the first instance of a road being named after a sitting or former US President outside of the United States.
This renaming is part of a broader initiative by the state government to honor global figures and corporations that have significantly contributed to Hyderabad’s emergence as a tech hub. Other proposed names include “Google Street,” “Microsoft Road,” and “Wipro Junction,” recognizing the significant investments and presence of these companies in the region. Furthermore, the 100-meter Greenfield Radial Road will be named after Padma Bhushan Ratan Tata, and the Raviryala interchange has already been designated as the Tata Interchange.
Chief Minister Reddy believes that these name changes will serve as both a tribute to influential figures and an inspiration to commuters, while also elevating Hyderabad’s global profile.
However, the proposal has drawn criticism. Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar has condemned the move, suggesting that Hyderabad should instead be renamed “Bhagyanagar.” He accused Chief Minister Reddy of renaming places after trending figures and questioned the historical significance of the proposed changes. Kumar also highlighted the BJP’s opposition to the government’s actions.
