LOS ANGELES, CA – Actress Zooey Deschanel and “Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott, engaged since 2023, are in no rush to walk down the aisle. Deschanel revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that wedding planning is still in an “exploratory” phase. “We’re not in a rush because we’ve been together so long, so it’s not like we’re like, ‘We gotta get married,'” she explained. “I’d rather find the right place, the right place and situation, so that it’s really special and fun.”

Scott echoed this sentiment, stating that they have “a lot of stuff we want to do” for their wedding and haven’t made any concrete plans yet. He also added that their focus is currently on their children’s activities.

Despite their shared love for the holiday season, the couple confirmed they will “absolutely not” be having a Christmas wedding.

Deschanel, who stars in the new holiday-themed rom-com “Merv” on Prime Video, emphasized that while the movie is set during Christmas, her focus was on the romantic comedy aspect of the film. In “Merv,” Deschanel plays Anna, an ex-partner sharing custody of a dog with her former flame.
