Sat Dec 06 20:55:42 UTC 2025: Headline: Deadly Israeli Raids Shatter Gaza Ceasefire, Aid Blocked Amid Humanitarian Crisis
Gaza City – At least seven Palestinians, including an elderly woman and her son, were killed in a series of Israeli attacks in Gaza on Saturday, raising serious concerns about the stability of the ceasefire agreement. Health officials reported the deaths in Beit Lahiya, Jabalia, and Zeitoun, with one incident involving a drone strike that allegedly targeted a 70-year-old woman and her son approximately one kilometer from the unmarked “yellow line” demarcation.
The Israeli military claims the individuals killed had crossed this “yellow line,” a boundary established after the October 10 ceasefire. However, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported that the woman and her son were pursued by a quadcopter drone and left to die, with the aircraft preventing rescuers from approaching. He described this incident as one of many violations of the ceasefire, noting the lack of clear markings to indicate the boundary.
Elsewhere, Israeli forces demolished residential buildings and infrastructure in the Shujayea district, triggering a wave of displacement. The military is reportedly erecting sand barriers to isolate eastern Gaza City and has pushed tanks and armored vehicles beyond the “yellow line” near Salah al-Din Street.
The escalating violence has prompted international concern. Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani warned that the Gaza ceasefire is at a “critical moment” and risks collapse. Saudi officials echoed this sentiment, expressing the absence of a viable partner for peace.
The recent deaths bring the Palestinian death toll since the October ceasefire to at least 367, with hundreds more injured and bodies still being recovered from the rubble, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. UNICEF reports that 70 children are among the dead.
Meanwhile, a severe humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza. Israeli human rights group B’Tselem accuses Israel of restricting aid, including essential winter supplies, leaving children vulnerable in the cold. The UN reports that a significant portion of the population is facing severe food insecurity, with families forced to subsist on a single meal per day. Humanitarian operations remain critically underfunded.
Adding to the complexities, eight Muslim-majority nations condemned Israel’s plan to limit Palestinian access to the Rafah crossing, fearing it could enable forced displacement. The UN estimates that nearly 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced during the ongoing conflict.
