‘Fallout’ Star Ella Purnell Shuts Down “Therapy Needed” Lucy/Ghoul Romance Theories

LOS ANGELES, CA – December 5, 2025 – With the highly anticipated second season of Amazon Prime Video’s “Fallout” series just weeks away, fans are buzzing with speculation about potential storylines. However, one romantic pairing has been definitively quashed by star Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy.

In a recent interview with Geek Culture alongside co-stars Walton Goggins (The Ghoul) and Aaron Moten, Purnell addressed the surprising popularity of “shipping” Lucy and the Ghoul. Her response was blunt and humorous: “Here’s what I would say: you guys need therapy. You can’t fix him. You can’t save him. Let it go. Let it go, hon.”

Goggins, who portrays the grizzled, centuries-old Ghoul, expressed surprise at the fan theory. Purnell revealed she’s frequently questioned about the potential for a romantic connection between the two characters.

Season 2 will see Lucy and the Ghoul venturing towards New Vegas, each driven by personal quests. The Ghoul seeks the location of his pre-war family, while Lucy continues her search for her father.

While explicitly denying any romantic intentions, Purnell emphasized the strength of Lucy and the Ghoul’s bond: “They’re both looking for the people that they love. Let’s leave it at that.”

The second season of “Fallout” premieres December 17th on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping weekly through February 4, 2026.
