Hyderabad – December 6, 2025 – D.C. Reddy, who served as Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University from 1999 to 2002, passed away in Hyderabad on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was 86 years old.
A professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Reddy spearheaded significant academic reforms during his tenure, including the implementation of the semester system for postgraduate courses. He also oversaw administrative developments such as the establishment of the Directorate of Admissions and the University Foreign Relations Office.
Under his leadership, the University College for Women achieved a five-star rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1999, the highest quality rating. In 2001, Osmania University itself received a NAAC five-star accreditation, and the University College of Engineering was awarded ISO 9001 certification. His tenure also saw the creation of several new centers, courses, and collaborations with international universities. He was also known for making the decision to close hostel buildings during vacation periods.
The last rites for D.C. Reddy will be held at his residence, Villa 60, Aditya Royal Palm, Samata Colony, Toli Chowki, starting at 12:00 p.m. today, Saturday, December 6, 2025.
