Pilibhit, India – December 6, 2025 – The Uttar Pradesh Home Department is investigating the alleged mistreatment of twelve laborers from Pilibhit district who are reportedly stranded in Kyrgyzstan. Families of the men claim they were lured to Kyrgyzstan by a local recruitment agency with false promises of work, only to be subjected to grueling working conditions, inadequate food, and prevented from returning home.
According to relatives, the laborers, identified as Ravi Kumar, Ajay, Chandrapal, Santram, Rohit, Ramesh, Harswaroop, Shyamcharan, Sanjeev, Prempal, Ramasare and Harishankar, each paid approximately ₹2.5 lakh to agents who arranged their travel on 59-day visas. The families allege the men are being forced to work in different cities and are being subjected to violence and mistreatment. Video messages sent by the workers pleading for rescue have been submitted as evidence.
The Pilibhit district administration, led by District Magistrate Gyanendra Singh, has submitted a detailed report to the state government, urging swift action to secure the laborers’ safe return. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav has assigned CO City Deepak Chaturvedi to investigate the recruitment agency involved, which allegedly operated under false pretenses.
“Information about all 12 persons stranded in Kyrgyzstan has been compiled and sent to the government so that the due process can be initiated for their safe return,” said DM Singh. The investigation is ongoing.
