Following a review of proposals presented by a high-power committee today, the Chief Minister will visit the university on December 10th to inspect academic blocks and hostels.
The development plan includes the construction of new hostel buildings, academic blocks, roads, and an auditorium. Reddy stressed the importance of ensuring all new structures accommodate at least 10% more students than the current capacity demands, anticipating future growth. He also emphasized a balanced approach, preserving historically significant buildings while prioritizing the construction of new, functional facilities over costly renovations of structures lacking heritage value.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to incorporate amenities like cycle tracks, walking paths, and monuments honoring the legacy of OU students. He also advised utilizing urban forestry funds for enhancing the university’s forested areas and creating new water resources.
To ensure community input, Reddy urged officials to present development models to the campus and establish a dedicated website and drop boxes for collecting feedback.
