BJP Leader Accuses Congress of Protecting Accused Palakkad MLA
Kozhikode, India – December 5, 2025 (8:32 PM IST) – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Surendran has publicly accused the Congress party of shielding Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil, who was expelled from the party following allegations of rape.
Speaking at a “meet-the-leader” event hosted by the Calicut Press Club today, the former BJP State president alleged that the Kerala government is also complicit in delaying the arrest of the accused, playing a “hide-and-seek” game to prolong the matter.
Surendran claimed that numerous women Congress leaders have already lodged complaints against Mamkoottathil with All India Congress Committee General Secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and Deepa Dasmunshi.
Addressing the ongoing local body elections, the BJP leader stated that both the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front are facing the elections with damaged reputations. He also suggested the State government fears investigation by the Enforcement Directorate, as it could reveal the involvement of ministers in the Sabarimala gold theft case.
