Tharoor Breaks Ranks, Criticizes Congress’s Disruptive Tactics in Parliament
New Delhi: In a move likely to ignite further controversy within the Congress party, MP Shashi Tharoor has publicly criticized the opposition’s repeated disruptions in Parliament. Tharoor asserted that he was elected to represent his constituents through reasoned debate and intellectual engagement, not through shouting and creating chaos.
“I have said this from the very beginning,” Tharoor stated, emphasizing that his stance is well-known within the party, including to Sonia Gandhi. “People have elected me to represent them in parliament, not just to shout and create a ruckus…to use my intelligence to speak for the nation.”
