New Delhi, India – IndiGo has cancelled all domestic flights departing from Delhi Airport until midnight tonight, exacerbating travel woes for thousands of passengers. The cancellations, initially reported by sources within the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to be in effect until 3 PM, have now been extended indefinitely.
Frustration and anger erupted at Delhi Airport as passengers faced extended delays and soaring travel costs. Reports indicate some passengers boarded flights only to be deplaned due to subsequent cancellations.
The airline issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter) this afternoon, promising full refunds for all cancelled flights. However, the apology has done little to quell the widespread discontent.
This disruption, which has now entered its fourth day, is reportedly caused by an unanticipated shortage of pilots stemming from planning deficiencies within the airline.
