Mysuru, December 4, 2025 (The Hindu) – Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mysuru, P. Shivaraju, conducted surprise inspections of government hostels under the Backward Classes Welfare Department in and around Mysuru on Thursday. The checks, carried out at the behest of Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, aimed to assess the living conditions and amenities provided to students.

According to an official statement, Mr. Shivaraju visited hostels in Kuvempunagar and Bogadi, meticulously examining kitchens, toilets, storage facilities, and the availability of clean drinking water. He engaged with resident students and attended a parents’ meeting, fostering dialogue about their concerns and needs.

The inspection team, which included District Officer for Backward Classes Welfare Department Raghavendra and Mysuru taluk officer Chandrakala, focused on ensuring the basic welfare of students residing in these government-run facilities. The outcome of the inspections and any planned follow-up actions remain to be seen.
