LUSAIL CITY, QATAR – Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing secured a dominant victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, but the race was far from straightforward for his championship rivals. A well-timed safety car intervention and strategic masterclass from Red Bull propelled Verstappen to his seventh win of the season, closing the gap in the drivers’ championship.

McLaren, starting from pole with Oscar Piastri, ultimately fell short of expectations. Piastri finished second, expressing disappointment for missing out on the victory due to a strategic misstep. Lando Norris struggled to fourth place, hampered by traffic after his pit stops, further tightening the championship standings.

“We had the pace for the win today, we just didn’t make the right call,” said Piastri. Norris added, “Frustrating result, we didn’t get it right today.”

Williams driver Carlos Sainz Jr. delivered a stellar performance, claiming the final podium spot after a well-executed race and holding off late-race car damage.

Mercedes faced a challenging race, with Kimi Antonelli finishing fifth after a late mistake and George Russell taking sixth. Haas endured a disastrous race, with Oliver Bearman forced to retire after a pit stop error that resulted in a penalty.

Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda secured a valuable point with a tenth-place finish, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso finished seventh.

The Qatar Grand Prix proved to be a pivotal race in the championship battle. With just one race remaining in Abu Dhabi, Norris leads Verstappen by a mere 12 points, setting the stage for a thrilling season finale.
