NHAI and Reliance Jio Partner to Enhance Highway Safety with Mobile Alerts

New Delhi – December 3, 2025 – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has teamed up with Reliance Jio to implement a new telecom-based safety alert system across national highways. This initiative, announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, aims to improve road safety by delivering timely warnings to drivers via their mobile phones.

Reliance Jio mobile users traveling on or near national highways will receive advance notifications through SMS, WhatsApp messages, and high-priority voice calls. These alerts will provide early warning of potentially hazardous zones, allowing drivers to adjust their speed and driving accordingly.

The alert system will be progressively integrated with NHAI’s existing digital platforms, including the Rajmargyatra mobile application and the 1033 emergency helpline. This partnership seeks to create a comprehensive and automated safety net for highway commuters.

The agreement between NHAI and Reliance Jio was signed yesterday.
