Tue Dec 02 18:50:00 UTC 2025: Fulham Boss Silva Praises Team’s Fight Despite Thrilling Loss to Man City
London, UK – Fulham manager Marco Silva praised his players’ resilience despite a heartbreaking 4-5 defeat to Manchester City at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The high-scoring affair saw Fulham score four goals at home, only to still fall short against the reigning champions.
Speaking to Match of the Day after the game, Silva admitted the result was difficult to swallow. “Of course we take many positives from the game but the feeling is not the best, as you would expect,” he said. “Before the game we had the ambition and the conditions, I believe, to get a different result.”
Silva lamented his team’s slow start, stating, “The way we started, again, made this more difficult for us. We were too soft, we didn’t start on the front foot, like we should start these games. The first 20 minutes were difficult. We conceded the second goal too soft.”
Despite going 1-0 down, Silva highlighted Emile Smith Rowe’s chance to equalize and praised his team’s overall reaction. Even after falling behind 5-1, Fulham mounted a comeback, showcasing their fighting spirit. “I really have to praise the players for their reaction. They deserve much more,” Silva stated. He also mentioned Josh King’s late effort that was cleared off the line, acknowledging the team perhaps deserved a point.
Looking ahead, Silva emphasized the lessons learned from the match. “We didn’t take any points but we took many many things from this game which will help us to win games in the future.” He also expressed gratitude for the Fulham fans’ support, saying, “The respect that the fans showed at the end of the game means more than one point. They did something that is not normal in football because the fans showed that respect. We have to move on and we’ll need them again on Sunday.”
Fulham will look to bounce back as they prepare to face Crystal Palace next Sunday.
