Netflix to Premiere “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” a Documentary Exposing the Dark Side of a Music Mogul
LOS ANGELES, CA – Netflix is set to release “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” a highly anticipated four-part documentary chronicling the rise and fall of Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs. Produced by Combs’ longtime rival, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the series premieres Tuesday, December 2nd, at 3:00 AM ET.
The documentary explores Combs’ journey from music icon to convicted felon, following the fallout from his federal prostitution conviction and 50-month prison sentence. The project was partially inspired by the sexual assault lawsuit filed against Combs by his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, in November 2023.
According to Netflix, the docu-series will feature never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews with former members of Combs’ inner circle, revealing how “something darker began to color his ambitions.”
Director Alexandria Stapleton states the series aims to be more than just a biography. “Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”
50 Cent expressed his commitment to impactful storytelling: “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”
A teaser for the documentary features the voice of former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry, hinting at the accusations and long awaited reckoning Sean Combs will be facing on the big screen. Combs is currently scheduled for release from federal prison on May 8, 2028.
