Puducherry Government Denies Roadshow Permit to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam

Puducherry – The Puducherry government has rejected a request from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to hold a roadshow in the territory on December 5th, 2025. Speaker R. Selvam announced the decision on Tuesday, stating that the government would not grant permission for the event as planned.

“The government will not permit TVK to hold [the] roadshow as planned by the party in Puducherry,” Selvam told reporters. “But, the government could consider any other demand of the party for TVK president Vijay to meet [the] public here.”

The announcement follows a recent meeting between TVK leaders and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Director General of Police Shalini Singh, where the party sought permission for the roadshow. The proposed route would have stretched from Kalapet to Kannikoil, bordering Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district. During the event, TVK President Vijay was slated to address supporters at key locations including Ajantha Signal, Sonampalayam, Ariankuppam, Thavalakuppam, and Kirumampakkam.

TVK General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna has reportedly arrived in Puducherry to consult with local party leaders on how to proceed in light of the denial. The reasons for the government’s rejection of the roadshow permit have not been explicitly stated.
