New Delhi, December 1, 2025 – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended a hand of support to Bangladesh as former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia battles a critical illness in a Dhaka hospital. Modi’s offer includes “all possible support” for her recovery.

“Deeply concerned to learn about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia,” Modi posted on social media platform X, recalling her contributions to Bangladeshi public life. “India stands ready to extend all possible support, in whatever way we can.”

The offer comes as a five-member delegation of Chinese doctors has also arrived in Bangladesh to assist in Zia’s treatment.

Modi met Zia in 2015 during a visit to Dhaka where India and Bangladesh signed the Land Boundary Agreement.
