Falcons’ Pass Catchers: Mooney and Pitts Face Fantasy Football Doubt Against Jets

Atlanta, GA – November 29, 2024 – After a Week 12 victory over New Orleans, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Kyle Pitts face uncertain prospects in Week 13, leaving fantasy football managers questioning their value against the New York Jets.

Mooney, who salvaged his week with a late-game touchdown, managed to secure 16.4 fantasy points. Despite this success, his performance revealed concerning trends. Before the touchdown, he had just two receptions for 25 yards. Mooney only saw 3 targets and hasn’t been shown to increase production if star receiver Drake London is out.

Pitts was targeted 5 times in the first drives, but managed just two catches for 25 yards. Pitts also had 2 drops, continuing a trend of unreliability. His struggled performance continues, as he hasn’t reached over 8 fantasy points for the past 4 games.

The Jets present a middle-of-the-pack matchup in terms of fantasy points allowed to both wide receivers and tight ends. However, the Falcons’ run-heavy approach, especially with Desmond Penix out for the rest of the season due to an ACL tear, raises concerns about passing volume. With the team favored by only 2.5 points and a low game total of 39.5, the game script favors a dominant running game and doesn’t require for a high passing attack.

Fantasy football analysts are advising managers to bench both Mooney and Pitts. Mooney’s low target volume makes him touchdown-dependent, while Pitts struggles with inconsistency and limited scoring potential. Neither player is expected to overcome the offensive environment and usage constraints in the Week 13 matchup.
