Fri Nov 28 05:57:59 UTC 2025: ## Trump Announces Sweeping Immigration Restrictions Targeting “Third World Countries”

Washington D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to drastically curtail immigration from what he termed “third world countries” following an alleged shooting incident involving an Afghan national in Washington. The announcement, made via social media on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, signaled a significant escalation in the administration’s anti-immigration policies, already marked by a large-scale deportation campaign in his second term.

President Trump stated his intention to “permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries” to allow the U.S. system to “fully recover.” He also vowed to reverse millions of admissions granted under his predecessor, Joe Biden, and remove individuals deemed “not a net asset to the United States.”

The administration further announced a “rigorous” re-examination of all Green Cards issued to immigrants from “every country of concern.” Trump also pledged to terminate federal benefits and subsidies for non-U.S. citizens and deport any foreign national deemed a security risk or “non-compatible with Western Civilisation.”

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued new guidance allowing for “negative, country-specific factors” to be considered when vetting applicants from 19 “high-risk countries.” These nations, already subject to a travel ban announced in June, include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Burundi, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen.

In a separate post, Trump claimed the U.S. foreign population stands at 53 million, asserting that “most of which are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.” His statements have been met with criticism and are expected to face legal challenges. The move is poised to further strain relations between the U.S. and the targeted nations.
