GALLATIN, MO – Steve McBee Sr., the patriarch of the “McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” reality TV show family, reported to federal prison in Yankton, South Dakota, on December 1st to begin a two-year sentence for crop insurance fraud.
The 53-year-old McBee spent his last Thanksgiving at his Gallatin, Missouri ranch, posting a video to Instagram expressing gratitude for his blessings. He had been sentenced in October and ordered to pay $4,022,124 in restitution.
McBee pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of federal crop insurance fraud. According to a Department of Justice press release, he admitted to submitting fraudulent documents to Rain and Hail, underreporting his 2018 corn crop by approximately 674,812 bushels and his soybean crop by approximately 155,833 bushels. This allowed him to receive $3,158,923 in unauthorized benefits, causing the government to lose over $4 million.
