Krishi Mela Prepares to Showcase Local Women Entrepreneurs in Mandya

Mandya, India – November 30, 2025 – Preparations are underway for the annual Krishi Mela, scheduled to take place at V.C. Farm in Mandya district from December 5th to 7th. R. Nandini, Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat, conducted a thorough inspection of the site on November 28th, ensuring everything is on track for a successful event.

A key focus of this year’s mela is the empowerment of women through self-help groups (SHGs). Ms. Nandini confirmed that a total of 50 stalls will be dedicated to providing a platform for women from SHGs to showcase and sell their products. 34 SHGs from Mandya district and 16 SHGs from other districts will be participating. A new brand, ‘Siri Samruddhi’, will be introduced at the mela. The brand will feature millet-based food products prepared by the SHGs of Mandya.

In a move to further support these groups, all district offices have been directed to procure food products prepared by SHGs for their meetings and events.

“The Krishi Mela serves as a vital platform for our farmers and especially our women entrepreneurs,” said Ms. Nandini. “We are committed to providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive.”

To ensure maximum participation and awareness, officials are planning a series of pre-mela activities, including cycle rallies, bike rallies, and walkathons. The Department of Agriculture and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) are working together to provide coordinated training on agricultural machinery to farmers and SHG members.

Ashok, Joint Director of Agriculture, Roopashree, Mandya Zilla Panchayat Planning Director, and other officials from the V.C. farm were also present during Ms. Nandini’s inspection.
