South Africa Opts to Bowl; India’s Top Order Faces Early Test in Ranchi ODI
Ranchi, India – South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the first ODI of the three-match series. The match is being played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
India’s innings saw an early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Nandre Burger for 18. Rohit Sharma started aggressively with several well-timed boundaries, but also survived a dropped catch off Burger’s bowling. Virat Kohli, batting at number three, began his innings with a streaky boundary and looked to build a partnership with Rohit.
Earlier, South African captain Aiden Markram cited the expected dew as a factor in his decision to bowl first. South Africa’s team includes four seamers and just one specialist spinner.
The Indian team sees the return of experienced players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. India’s playing XI features three spinners and three quicks.
