Sun Nov 30 08:10:00 UTC 2025: ## India vs South Africa: Rohit, Kohli Shine in Ranchi ODI

Ranchi, India – After a disappointing Test series, the Indian cricket team has started the ODI series on a positive note against South Africa at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl, hoping to capitalize on evening conditions.

India’s innings got off to a shaky start with Yashasvi Jaiswal departing for 17, caught behind off Nandre Burger. However, the experienced duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli steadied the ship with a magnificent partnership.

Rohit Sharma showcased aggressive intent, smashing sixes and eventually breaking Shahid Afridi’s record for the most sixes in ODI cricket. He reached his 60th ODI half-century before being dismissed LBW by Marco Jansen for a well-made 57.

Virat Kohli continued his brilliant form, reaching his 76th ODI half-century with a six. The pair put on a century partnership, reminiscent of their Sydney exploits.

Rituraj Gaikwad, batting at number four, failed to capitalize on the opportunity, falling for 8.

India’s playing XI included Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rituraj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (c & wk), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna. Notably, Rishabh Pant was excluded from the lineup.
