Undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes Women’s Basketball Cracks Top 15 in Offensive and Defensive Efficiency

Iowa City, IA – November 29, 2025 – The No. 11 Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team is off to a scorching 7-0 start, fueled by their dominance on both ends of the court. The Hawkeyes rank among the nation’s elite in field-goal percentage (11th at .506) and field-goal defense (14th at .317), a combination that has proven virtually unbeatable.

Head Coach Jan Jensen’s squad is preparing to host a formidable Fairfield Stags team (4-1) on Sunday at noon in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a game that will be broadcast on BTN. Fairfield, winners of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference the past two seasons and NCAA Tournament participants, present the Hawkeyes’ toughest non-conference home challenge thus far.

Iowa is coming off an 86-69 victory over Western Illinois, a game where they were without key players Chit-Chat Wright, Emely Rodriguez, and Teagan Mallegni. However, freshman Addie Deal stepped up, delivering a career-high 17 points. “I think in the last week, Addie was able to step back, and let herself develop and improve,” said Jensen after the game.

A key to victory for Iowa will be limiting Fairfield’s opportunities at the free-throw line. The Stags lead the nation in free-throw percentage, shooting a blistering 86.2% (81-94). Jillian Huerter and Janelle Brown have yet to miss a free throw this season.
