Dillon Brooks Fined $35,000 for Inappropriate Language Towards Officials
Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been hit with a $35,000 fine by the NBA for directing inappropriate language towards game officials. The incident occurred following the Suns’ narrow 114-113 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 21st at Mortgage Matchup Center, as announced by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.
Brooks, who had already received a technical foul and fouled out in the fourth quarter of the game, has been vocal about officiating this season. This marks his second fine in recent weeks, after being penalized $25,000 for a lewd gesture during a game against the Indiana Pacers.
In a previous statement after a loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Brooks criticized the officials, stating, “You want to call a t [technical foul] and change another play, give them two extra points when it’s not even their ball. That needs to get reviewed.”
Despite the fines, Brooks has been a key contributor to the Suns’ strong start to the season, averaging 21 points, 3.3 rebounds, and two assists per game and providing a sense of grit and spark.
The Suns are set to face the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
