Fertility Awareness Campaign Launched in Andhra Pradesh Amid Declining Rates
Visakhapatnam, India – November 24, 2025 – A new initiative, the Oasis Janani Yatra, has been launched in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, aimed at raising awareness about declining fertility rates in the region. The campaign was officially flagged off on Monday with a walkathon and the introduction of a state-of-the-art mobile fertility clinic.
According to Dr. Radhika Potluri, a fertility specialist at Oasis Fertility, Visakhapatnam, fertility rates in Andhra Pradesh have dropped to a concerning 1.5, significantly below the replacement threshold of 2.1. This decline has prompted the need for increased awareness and access to fertility solutions.
The Oasis Janani Yatra will see the mobile clinic travel to Tier II and Tier III towns, offering free consultations with fertility specialists, hemoglobin testing for women, semen analysis, and safe sample collection facilities. The initiative aims to address the growing yet often overlooked public health concern of infertility, particularly in underserved areas where access to such services is limited.
The launch event saw participation from local MLAs Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, and Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, along with students, families, and healthcare professionals.
“Through a strong collaboration with government bodies, the initiative aims to ensure that evidence-based fertility solutions reach under-served regions, where access and awareness remain limited”, said Dr Durga G. Rao, medical director and co-founder of Oasis Fertility, during the launch.
The campaign seeks to promote conversations around reproductive health and highlight the importance of embracing advanced, science-led fertility treatments and preservation options.
