Emmy Winner Katherine LaNasa Feels the Pressure as “The Pitt” Season 2 Approaches

LOS ANGELES, CA – October 27, 2024 – Katherine LaNasa, who won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as nurse Dana Evans in “The Pitt,” admits to feeling the heat as the show prepares for its second season premiere. Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine at the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House Annual Brunch in Los Angeles, LaNasa acknowledged the increased attention on her performance after her recent win.

“I think in season 1, I shined from the back…And now I’m more in the front,” LaNasa explained. “So it’s like, can I shine in the front, can I lead from the front? We have to see.”

LaNasa, 58, took home the Emmy on September 14th, beating out strong contenders from shows like “Severance” and “The White Lotus.” The win marked LaNasa’s first Emmy nomination.

“It’s crazy,” she said after receiving her nomination. “You stay on the sidelines for so much of your career, you don’t really ever expect to be one of the nominees. To be one is really just delightful.”

“The Pitt,” which also won Outstanding Drama Series, follows the intense lives of medical professionals during their shifts at a Pittsburgh hospital. In her acceptance speech, LaNasa thanked her family, the nurses who inspired her portrayal, and her co-star Noah Wyle.

LaNasa says her approach to mitigating any pressure is simple: hard work. She emphasizes the importance of thorough research, dedication to the script, and real-world background work, including visiting the rape treatment center for sensitive storylines.

Season 2 of “The Pitt” premieres in January on HBO. The new season picks up 10 months after the season 1 finale. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill has revealed the timeline was influenced by the rehabilitation process of the Frank Langdon character, with the story taking place around the 4th of July.
