Bidunga Reflects on Recruitment, Praises Auburn and Coach Pearl After Kansas Victory

[City, State] – Following a recent win over Notre Dame, Kansas Jayhawks freshman Flory Bidunga took time to reflect on his highly competitive recruitment process, ultimately ending with him choosing Kansas. In a postgame interview, Bidunga spoke glowingly of Auburn University and head coach Bruce Pearl, revealing the Tigers were a strong contender for his commitment.

“I really love Coach Pearl, you know, as a person,” Bidunga stated. “I called him BP. He’s a great dude, great guy. I have to give it to them. Auburn was highly on my top recruit (list) for sure.”

Bidunga, a former four-star prospect from Kokomo, Indiana, was ranked as the No. 18 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle. Auburn, along with Duke and Michigan, were among the final schools vying for his signature. While different programs held the lead at various points in the recruitment, ultimately, Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks secured the coveted commitment.

Despite missing out on Bidunga, Coach Pearl has built a formidable Auburn squad, highlighted by star center Johni Broome. While Kansas is experiencing a slight dip due to injury, Bidunga is stepping up and demonstrating he can deliver the high quality play necessary for his team to win. Bidunga led the team to victory over Notre Dame, the Jayhawks hope to get back on track with consistent performance.

In the recent game, Bidunga showcased his potential, leading the team in scoring with 18 points, and nearly achieving a double-double with nine rebounds and five assists.
