New Aadhaar App to Revolutionize Identity Verification, Offering Paperless and Offline Capabilities

NEW DELHI – The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to launch a new Aadhaar app that will transform how citizens verify their identity. The app boasts offline verification, enabling users to prove their identity without an internet connection using just their smartphones.

The upcoming app will provide a seamless experience, allowing users to register using their 12-digit Aadhaar number and linking it to their registered mobile number. The verification process includes face authentication, ensuring secure and reliable eKYC.

A key feature is the QR code display, which allows users to share their identity securely without needing to carry physical Aadhaar cards. This digital ID can be used anywhere, anytime, to verify identity.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar emphasized that the offline verification option provides a “safe, convenient, and privacy-friendly” alternative to sharing photocopies of Aadhaar, which can be vulnerable to fraud.

Key features of the new Aadhaar app include:

  • Simplified Updates: Easier mobile number and address updates.
  • Family Management: Management of multiple Aadhaar cards within a single app.
  • Selective Data Sharing: Ability to share only necessary data with organizations.
  • Enhanced Security: One-tap security system for stronger protection.
  • Faster Verification: Quick and secure identification processes at hotels, societies, and events.

The UIDAI team announced that the official launch of the new Aadhaar app is expected in the coming weeks. This will make digital Aadhaar usage more accessible and efficient, offering faster updates, enhanced privacy, and quick offline verification for millions of users.
