Sangli, Maharashtra – Celebrations turned to concern for Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana as she postponed her wedding ceremony on Sunday after her father, Srinivas Mandhana, experienced heart attack-like symptoms.
According to sources, Mr. Mandhana suffered left-sided chest pain, diagnosed as angina, around 1:30 pm on Sunday. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where doctors found elevated cardiac enzymes and high blood pressure. He is currently under observation, with doctors closely monitoring his condition. A decision on whether to perform an angiography will be made based on his progress.
Adding to the family’s worries, Mandhana’s fiancé, Palash Muchhal, was also briefly hospitalized due to a viral infection and increased acidity. However, sources confirm that he has since been discharged and is recovering at a hotel.
The wedding, which had been preceded by a week-long celebration in Sangli, has been postponed indefinitely. The new date and schedule will depend on Mr. Mandhana’s recovery. Mandhana and her family are in constant contact with the medical team.
