KPop Demon Hunters Soar into Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
NEW YORK, NY – October 26, 2024 – Get ready for a burst of K-pop magic this Thanksgiving! Two beloved characters from Netflix’s record-breaking animated film, “KPop Demon Hunters,” – Derpy Tiger and Sussie – will take flight as balloons in the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
A sneak peek released by Macy’s shows the fan-favorite characters undergoing test flights, promising a visually stunning addition to the iconic parade. “KPop Demon Hunters,” the most-watched film on Netflix with over 325 million views in just 91 days, follows a pop girl group that secretly protects South Korea from demons. Its massive popularity has spurred a successful toy line, a record-breaking Billboard hit, and several trending Halloween costumes.
The parade promises a spectacular display of entertainment, featuring 32 balloons, three balloonicles, 27 floats, four specialty units, 33 clown groups, 11 marching bands, and a host of musical performers. Notably, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the voices behind the HUNTR/X group from “KPop Demon Hunters,” will perform during the parade.
Adding to the star-studded lineup are Cynthia Erivo (star of the Wicked films who will open the parade), Ciara, Jewel, Darlene Love, and Foreigner, guaranteeing a memorable kickoff to the holiday season. Viewers can also expect four exciting new balloons and six new floats joining the festivities this year.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off at 8:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, November 27th. Tune in to NBC at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones for live coverage, or stream it live on Peacock and Fubo. An encore presentation will air on NBC at 2 p.m. ET/PT.
