Sun Nov 23 14:40:23 UTC 2025: ## Cyberabad Police Issue Stark Warning: Digital Dangers Threatening Families and Society

Hyderabad, India – November 23, 2025 – The Cyberabad Police have issued a comprehensive advisory, warning of the escalating digital dangers that are fundamentally changing family life, mental well-being, and social behavior. Titled “Caught in the Digital Web – Vigilance is the Only Shield,” the advisory urges citizens to practice stringent “digital hygiene” as cybercriminals increasingly target vulnerable populations, particularly young people and children.

Police warned that today’s criminals are no longer simply breaking into homes, but infiltrating minds through screens. The advisory highlights a range of growing threats, including online betting addiction, which is leading young people to debt and emotional distress, sometimes culminating in suicide attempts.

Deepfake technology was identified as a particularly alarming concern, especially for women, as criminals are using readily available photos and videos to create explicit fake content for blackmail purposes. Romance scams, characterized by carefully crafted emotional manipulation, are also proving devastating, often leading to extortion via morphed images and doctored videos.

Other concerning trends include fake police calls designed to extract money, fraudulent job offers preying on desperate job seekers, and the use of illegal courier deliveries to transport contraband through unsuspecting households.

Children are particularly vulnerable to dangerous online challenges disguised as games and attempts to harvest biometric data. Youth are also engaging in risky stunts and reckless speeding in pursuit of social media fame, often with fatal consequences. The advisory also raised concerns about sextortion, fake investment platforms, and predatory loan apps that trap individuals in cycles of debt.

The Cyberabad Police are urging parents to closely monitor their children’s screen time, and advising all citizens to be extremely cautious with suspicious calls, links, and messages. They further advise careful verification of job offers and immediate reporting of any form of online fraud or intimidation.

“Technology is a double-edged sword,” stated the police in their advisory. “Awareness, caution, and vigilance are the only real shields in the virtual world.”
