Konkan Railway Prioritizes Safety with Intra-Railway Audit in Karwar Region

Mangalore, Karnataka – November 22, 2025 – Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) reaffirmed its commitment to safety by conducting an Intra Railway Safety Audit of the Karwar Region on November 11 and 12. The audit, in line with Railway Board directives, was undertaken to assess operational readiness, identify potential risks, and reinforce safety procedures.

A multidisciplinary team, led by the Chief Safety Officer (CSO) and comprising officers from various departments, meticulously inspected safety assets, installations, and reviewed disaster preparedness measures, including the Self-Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV) and the Accident Relief Train (ART). The team also examined and reviewed the disaster preparedness of the Self-Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV) and the Accident Relief Train (ART) stationed at Verna. The Regional Railway Manager (RRM/Karwar) and regional officers assisted in the audit.

KRCL emphasized that these Intra Railway Safety Audits, similar to the Ratnagiri Region audit conducted in June 2025, are crucial for driving systematic improvements and promoting standardized work practices across all regions. The audit also involved examining best practices from other Zonal Railways for possible implementation. KRCL noted that these internal audits are in addition to the bi-annual Inter-Zonal Railway Safety Audits conducted by Zonal Railways nominated by the Railway Board.
