Tiruchi, India – November 21, 2025 – A comprehensive two-day coastal security drill, dubbed “Sagar Kavach,” commenced in the coastal districts of Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, and Tiruvarur on Thursday. The exercise, the second of its kind this year, is designed to evaluate the readiness and alertness of various stakeholders in safeguarding the coastline against potential terrorist threats entering through maritime routes.

The extensive drill involves collaboration between the district police, the Coastal Security Group of the State police, the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard, and the Fisheries Department, among others. In the early hours of Thursday, surveillance was heightened along the coastal belt, with police teams conducting thorough vehicle checks at designated checkpoints.
