Trump Promises to Intervene in Sudan Crisis Following Saudi Crown Prince’s Plea
Washington D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to address the ongoing conflict in Sudan, prompted by a direct appeal from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The announcement was made at the Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, D.C., and reiterated on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.
According to Trump, the Crown Prince expressed deep concern about the situation in Sudan during his recent visit to the U.S., urging Trump to use his presidential power to halt the violence. Trump described Sudan as a “Great Civilization and Culture” that can be “fixed” with international cooperation.
“He mentioned Sudan yesterday, and he said, ‘Sir, you’re talking about a lot of wars, but there’s a place on Earth called Sudan, and it’s horrible what’s happening,” Trump said, referencing the Crown Prince’s plea.
Trump stated that his administration has already begun working on the issue within a half-hour of the Crown Prince’s request, he plans to work with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and other Middle Eastern partners to end the atrocities. The US president highlighted the dire humanitarian needs of the civilians caught in the crossfire.
The conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023, pits the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The fighting has resulted in widespread bloodshed, displacement, and famine. The United Nations has documented thousands of civilian deaths and reports that nearly half the population faces acute food insecurity. Millions have been forced to flee their homes, exacerbating regional instability.
President Trump, who has long sought the Nobel Peace Prize, has branded himself a “peace president,” and stated that his proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier.” In his Truth Social post, he emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, including “food, doctors, and everything else.”
Details of the intervention strategy remain unclear, but the president’s pledge signals a potential shift in U.S. policy towards the war-torn nation. The situation continues to evolve, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
