Headline: Brazil Seeks Investment and Partnerships in Dubai to Modernize Ports and Airports
Dubai, UAE – Brazilian Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, concluded a productive second day of meetings in Dubai, focusing on attracting investment and forging partnerships to modernize Brazil’s port, airport, and waterway infrastructure. Minister Costa Filho met with Sheikh Mohammed Al Mansouri, Secretary of Infrastructure and Transport of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss integrated logistics, expanded air connectivity, and diversified routes between the two countries.
“It was a very productive meeting. We talked about integrated logistics, decarbonization and port modernization models, which make the Emirates a world reference,” said the minister. “This exchange is essential to bring Brazil closer to advanced technologies, attract investments and strengthen the work we are conducting in President Lula’s government to modernize our ports and logistics corridors.”
The minister’s agenda included discussions with both public and private sector entities in the UAE. Key objectives included strengthening technical cooperation, exploring technological partnerships, addressing sustainability, decarbonizing maritime transport, and expanding the use of biofuels.
On Tuesday, Minister Costa Filho attended the Dubai Airshow, a global aerospace industry trade fair, engaging with over 1,500 exhibitors and 148,000 participants.
He also met with Steve Allen, CEO of Dnata, which operates in several Brazilian airports. Discussions centered on partnerships to strengthen the Brazilian aviation sector. “Dnata has significant institutional importance for our country and demonstrates the growing confidence that the international market has in Brazil and Brazilian aviation,” stated the minister.
Expanding Air Connectivity
A significant part of the mission focused on increasing air connectivity to Brazil. Minister Costa Filho met with Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, to explore the possibility of expanding the airline’s flight operations to the country, with a particular focus on serving the Northeast region.
“I am working hard to bring an Emirates flight from Dubai to the Northeast,” affirmed the minister. Emirates Airlines, with a fleet of approximately 260 aircraft, currently operates to 148 destinations across all continents. In Brazil, the airline serves São Paulo/Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão airports and has codeshare agreements with Azul, Gol, and Latam.
The Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports aims to leverage these partnerships and investments to modernize its infrastructure and improve logistics, driving economic growth and strengthening Brazil’s position in the global market.
