He emphasized that adopting natural farming methods, rooted in India’s traditions, is crucial for the future of agriculture and the revitalization of soil health, degraded by excessive chemical use.
“Our goal must be to make natural farming a fully science-backed movement,” Modi stated, advocating for a blend of traditional knowledge, scientific advancements, and government support. He praised the growing trend of educated youth entering agriculture and embracing modern techniques.
The Prime Minister unveiled the 21st installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, disbursing ₹18,000 crore to farmers across the country. This brings the total direct transfer under the scheme to ₹4 lakh crore. He also cited government initiatives like the National Mission on Natural Farming and the Kisan Credit Card scheme, which has provided over ₹10 lakh crore in assistance to farmers.
Modi urged farmers to gradually transition to natural farming, starting with one acre per year, and appealed to the State government to leverage Farmer Producer Organisations to promote the practice. He also emphasized the benefits of multi-crop agriculture and called on research institutions to integrate natural farming into their curricula.
