Thu Nov 20 13:41:35 UTC 2025: ## India Faces Growing Health Crisis: Experts Advocate for Healthy Beverages and Lifestyles
Kalaburagi, November 20, 2025 – A special lecture on “Instant beverages for a healthy lifestyle” at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK) in Kalaburagi highlighted the growing health challenges facing India due to rising lifestyle disorders. CUK Registrar R.R. Biradar stressed the importance of healthy citizens as a nation’s true wealth, cautioning against the dangers of poor dietary choices and lack of exercise.
Prof. Biradar cited alarming statistics, stating that nearly 17% of India’s adult population suffers from diabetes, significantly higher than the global average. He also expressed concern over increasing cancer risks and the rise of heart attacks among young adults, attributing these trends to the consumption of junk food, processed items, and inadequate physical activity.
“If we do not treat food as medicine today, we may be forced to take medicine as food in the future,” Prof. Biradar warned, advocating for balanced diets, fruits, vegetables, and regular physical activity like yoga and meditation.
Anilkumar Kadadi, founder of Buyu Food Private Limited, addressed the prevalence of high sugar and preservative content in commercially available beverages. His company produces 41 healthy beverage options using natural fruits, vegetables, and leaves, all certified by ISO and FSSAI. The product line includes baobab, rosella, moringa, curry leaf, and papaya leaf powders, as well as natural juices.
