New Delhi Chokes: Air Quality Plunges to “Very Poor” for Seventh Straight Day
New Delhi, November 20, 2025 – Residents of New Delhi continue to suffer under a thick blanket of smog as the city’s air quality remained in the “very poor” category for the seventh consecutive day, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) for the national capital reached 398 today.
Data from the CPCB’s Sameer app revealed that a significant portion of the city is experiencing even more hazardous conditions. 21 out of 40 monitoring stations reported air quality levels in the “severe” category, with areas like DTU, Burari, Chandni Chowk, Anand Vihar, Mundka, Okhla, Bawana and Wazirpur exceeding an AQI of 400. Such pollution levels pose a risk to even healthy individuals.
An AQI between 301 and 400 is classified as “very poor,” while levels between 401 and 500 are considered “severe.”
Despite the hazardous air quality, temperatures remain mild, with a minimum of 11.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius. However, high humidity levels of 95% were recorded this morning, exacerbating the discomfort for residents.
Authorities have yet to announce new measures to combat the persistent pollution. Concerns are mounting as the situation continues to impact the health and well-being of Delhi’s population.
