Norwegian Footballer Schjelderup Receives Suspended Sentence for Sharing Underage Sex Video
Copenhagen, Denmark – Norwegian international footballer Andreas Schjelderup, 21, received a suspended prison sentence in a Danish court this week after pleading guilty to sharing a sexually explicit video featuring two individuals under the age of 18.
Schjelderup, who previously played for Danish club FC Nordsjaelland and currently plays for Portuguese side Benfica, admitted to receiving the 27-second video via Snapchat and subsequently forwarding it to a private group chat consisting of four friends.
“As I forwarded it to my friends, I quickly realised that it was illegal and rapidly deleted the video,” Schjelderup stated in court. He acknowledged that he recognized the subjects of the video were underage from the initial moments.
Judge Mathias Eike sentenced Schjelderup to two weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. This means he will only serve the sentence if convicted of another crime during that period. The prosecution had sought a minimum of 20 days in prison.
Schjelderup issued an apology on Instagram, calling his actions a “stupid mistake.” His lawyer, Anders Nemeth, indicated the defence team is considering whether to appeal the sentence.
The incident occurred as Norway celebrated qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Schjelderup was an unused substitute in their recent 4-1 victory against Italy.
