Big Game Odds: Experts Split on Cal vs. Stanford

STANFORD, CA – The annual Big Game between Cal and Stanford is heating up, not just on the field but in the world of predictions and betting. While ESPN analytics give Stanford a slight 51.9% edge to win, betting sites are leaning towards the Golden Bears.

Initially, FanDuel and DraftKings opened with Cal as a 4.5-point favorite. However, the point spread has seen fluctuations. By Sunday afternoon, FanDuel adjusted its point spread to 2.5 points, while DraftKings dropped to 3 points. ESPN BET and BetMGM also posted odds with Cal as a 2.5-point and 3-point favorite, respectively.

Cal heads into the game with a 6-4 record (3-3 in the ACC), fresh off a road upset victory over then-No. 15 Louisville. Stanford, on the other hand, is 3-7 (2-5 in the conference) after a loss to North Carolina.

True freshman Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele will start at quarterback for Cal, while Stanford is expected to start redshirt freshman Elijah Brown. There’s also potential for Cal’s outstanding inside linebacker, Cade Uluave, to return from a wrist injury.

Home-field advantage favors Stanford, but history suggests that the road team has a solid record in the Big Game over the past 16 years (10-6).

Historically, the betting sites have a solid record for predicting the outcome of the Big Game. However, as with any rivalry, expect the unexpected. Kickoff is Saturday night at Stanford Stadium.
