Tue Nov 18 16:00:00 UTC 2025: Google CEO: AI Could One Day Replace Me, and Other Top Executives
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Even the top job isn’t safe from the rise of artificial intelligence. In a recent interview with the BBC, Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that AI could one day be capable of performing the duties of a CEO, potentially more easily than some other roles. His comments echo similar sentiments from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who envisions a future where AI could surpass him as head of his own company.
Pichai believes AI will soon be capable of more autonomous tasks, acting as an agent on the user’s behalf. He anticipates significant evolution in the next 12 months, with AI handling increasingly complex tasks.
While acknowledging the potential for societal disruption, Pichai emphasized the potential benefits of AI, including the creation of new opportunities and the ability to free up humans to focus on other endeavors. He also stressed the need for societal conversation and adaptation as AI continues to reshape the job market.
“It has potential for extraordinary benefits, and we will have to work through societal disruptions,” Pichai said. He added that while AI is already impacting some entry-level roles, it is also creating new opportunities.
Pichai’s advice to young people navigating this changing landscape is to embrace the technology and learn to use it within their chosen fields. “I would encourage the next generation to embrace the technology, learn to use it in the context of what you do,” he stated. “And I think people who learn to adopt and adapt will do better.” He emphasized that regardless of profession, those who learn to leverage AI tools will thrive.
