Government Doctors’ Committee Urges Tamil Nadu CM to Grant Job to Widow of COVID-19 Doctor

CHENNAI, November 17, 2025 – The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors is appealing to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to provide a government job to the wife of Dr. Vivekanandan, a government doctor who tragically passed away while serving during the COVID-19 pandemic five years ago.

In a strongly worded statement, the LCC criticized the state government’s lack of compassion and accused it of forcing Dr. Vivekanandan’s family to struggle for a compassionate appointment. The association claims the DMK government has failed to provide adequate financial relief to government doctors who died on the front lines during the pandemic.

The LCC emphasized that, despite a directive from the Madras High Court ordering the administration to provide a government job to Dr. Vivekanandan’s wife, no action has been taken. The committee highlighted the upcoming five-year anniversary of Dr. Vivekanandan’s death on November 22nd and urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene and issue the appointment order to his widow.
