DINDIGUL, INDIA – November 16, 2025 – A family of three, including a young girl, was killed in a tragic road accident in the Dindigul district on Sunday. The victims, Kathavarayan (65), his wife Jothi (60), and their granddaughter Achiammal (9), were struck by a speeding sand-laden lorry while riding a two-wheeler near Veeruveedu in Batlagundu.

According to police reports, the lorry, traveling at excessive speed, collided with the motorcycle shortly after the family purchased groceries. Kathavarayan and Achiammal died instantly at the scene. Jothi succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital. The couple’s grandson, Achipandi (9), is currently receiving treatment at the Batlagundu Government Hospital.

Vilampatti police, led by Inspector Parimala and SI Vani, responded to the scene and transported the deceased to the Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A manhunt is underway for the lorry driver who fled the scene after the accident. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
