Sun Nov 16 00:00:00 UTC 2025: Huskers Face First Big Test Against Oklahoma

Sioux Falls, S.D. – After a comfortable 3-0 start to the season with wins against West Georgia, Florida International, and Maryland-Eastern Shore, the Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball team (3-0) will face its first significant challenge tonight as they take on the Oklahoma Sooners (2-1) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

The Huskers have relied on their defense to overcome slow starts offensively. However, the Sooners, who are averaging over 88 points per game, will present a much tougher test.

Nebraska needs to find offensive consistency early, getting the ball inside and creating open looks for shooters like Pryce Sandfort, who has been on a hot streak, and Connor Essegian, who is looking to rediscover his shooting touch.

Oklahoma boasts a long and athletic roster, particularly in their backcourt, which is aggressive on the boards. The Huskers will need to box out effectively to limit second-chance opportunities for the Sooners.

Head coach Fred Hoiberg emphasizes the importance of playing with “pace and purpose” for the full 40 minutes.

Nebraska is currently favored by 2.5 points. The game tips off at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on BTN and the Huskers Radio Network.
